02/16//16 - Retirees - APERS is now accepting requests for duplicate copies of your IRS form 1099R. If you received retirement, disability, beneficiary, or other benefit payments from APERS during calendar 2015 and did not receive this form by mail or need another copy, you can download the request form from the Retiree Forms page.
02/10/16 - Retirees - W-4P Federal Withholding Certificate for Pension or Annuity Payments (required to change federal withholding rate) and the AR4P State Tax Withholding Form (required to change state withholding rate) has been updated to the 2016 form. Both forms can be found on the APERS Retired Memvber's Form page.
01/26/16 - Retirees - A reminder that 1099 R's will be mailed out before the end of January. We will accept requests for reprints on or after February 15, 2016.
12/09/15 – Employers – APERS anticipates the final audited June 30, 2015 GASB 68 information needed by employers to be completed by February 2016
12/04/15 - Employers - The final employer contribution rate effective July 1, 2016 (FY 2017) can be found here and on the Employers Forms page.
10/20/15 - Our updated Publications Page will make it easier for you to find the brochure or newletter issue that you need. And don't forget that we now have complete online copies of our contributory and non-contributory handbooks for your convenience.
9/23/15 - Active Members - We've updated the schedule of filing dates for retirement and DROP applications to run through the end of 2016. To see the full schedule, click on the calendar on the lower part of the green panel at left.
9/01/15 - Active Members - Annual member statements were mailed out approximately two weeks ago. If you did not receive your statement or need a copy, you can request one using our duplicate statement request form which is available on the Active Member Forms page. For more information, see our Annual Statement page and the APERS Blog.
8/25/15 - Employers -The preliminary employer contribution rate effective July 1, 2016 (FY 2017) can be found here and on the Employers Forms FY2016 page.
8/17/15 - Active Members - Annual Member Statements are being mailed out this week to all our members who were active the previous April, May or June (during the fourth quarter of the state's calendar year). More information about annual statements can be found on the Annual Statement page.

5/05/15 - Active Members - The Retirement Seminar Registration page has been updated to include sessions through November.
4/10/15 - Employers - The April 17th training sessions are full and registration is closed. The good news is there are still openings for the October 16th training. You can get the details and register online here.
3/20/15 - Employers - We have scheduled employer training sessions on enrolling and reporting for April 17 and October 16. You can get the details and register online here.
2/23/15 - At the February APERS Board of Trustees meeting it was determined that the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) interest rate, effective July 1, 2015, would remain at 2.5%.
01/27/15 - APERS has added a blog page to the website. This page will highlight a mixture of articles that have appeared in various publications that bear a second look, and new articles exploring retirement related issues and resources. You can click on the link in the blog box above for the most current entry or click here for the blog home page.
01/27/15 - Retirees - APERS is currently mailing 1099R tax forms. If you have not received your 1099R by February 11th, please contact APERS. Note: APERS will not accept requests for duplicates until February 11.
01/26/15 - APERS has posted downloadable PDF copies of the 2014 annual financial reports for the Arkansas State Police Retirement System and the Arkansas Judicial Retirement System. Links to these can be found on the Annual Reports page as well as on the portals for AJRS and ASPRS.

01/05/15 Retirees - APERS has posted the IRS W-4P form for 2015 that retirees may use to start, stop, or change the amount of federal withholding from their retirement benefits. A printable PDF is available for download on the Retiree Forms page.
12/22/14 - The APERS 2014 Financial Report has been posted on the Annual Financial Reports Page.
10/01/14 - Active Members - The last Retirement Seminar of 2014 is scheduled for Little Rock on November 5th. The last day to register is October 29th. For more information or to register go to the registration page.
8/27/14 - Employers The preliminary employer contribution rates for fiscal 2016 have been posted on the Rate Change Announcements section of the Employer Forms page.
08/20/14 - Active Members - The Annual member statements have been mailed to all active members who had service in the months of April - June of 2014. If you do not receive your statement in the next week or so, APERS will begin accepting requests for reprints on September 1, 2014. Use the Duplicate Annual Member Statement Request form if you need a duplicate copy. For more on Annual Member Statements go to our Annual Member Statement page.

You can use the following forms to change your State or Federal withholdings:

Federal Withholding - W4P Withholding Certificate for Pension

09/26/2013 -Employers -APERS Notice to Employees (Act 288 of 2013). This is a notice that was mailed to certain County and Municipal employers regarding Act 288 of 2013, which could impact their APERS reporting requirements. Read the notice for more information.
09/10/2013 - APERS has put together a new informational page about the Active Member's Annual Statement.
08/30/2013 - The Notice of Employer Contribution Rates Effective July 1, 2014 (8/22/13 Notice) has been posted.
08/28/13 - APERS has mailed out the 2013 Active Member Annual Statement to all our members who were active in April, May or June of 2013. If by Tuesday, September 4th, you have not received your statement (or need a duplicate) you may submit a Duplicate Annual Member Statement Request found on the Active Members forms page.
08/22/13 - The notes from the May 2013 APERS board meeting have been posted on the about page.

07/02/2013 - Employers - The FY2014 reporting forms are online.
06/28/13 - Active Members - Act 332 of 2013 allows active members who participate under the non-contributory benefit provisions to elect coverage under the contributory benefit provisions. To learn more go to the Going Contributory page.
06/26/13 - Employers - The Employer Notification of Contributory Coverage Election (Act 332 of 2013) has been posted here.

9/11/12 - Active Members - If you earned service in April, May or June 2012 (active member), APERS generated an Annual Member Statement for you, and by now you should have received that statement. If you have not received your statement, and you need to make a request for APERS to generate you a copy:

8/14/12 - The latest edition of the APERS Active and the APERS Retired newsletters are online. The newsletters can be found on our Publication page under the "Newsletters - Active and Retired" section.
7/18/12 - APERS was one of three employers who received the state’s highest Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Employer award. the award known as the "Pro Patria" is awarded in recognition of extraordinary support of their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve in one of three categories: small employer, large employer and public sector employer. APERS was awarded in the public sector category. The ESGR press release can be found here.

6/06/12 - Active Members - The Change of Name form, The Change of Address form and the Beneficiary Designation form have been combined into a single form to use to update your existing information with APERS. It's called the Enrollment Change Request Form and can be found on the Active Member's form page.

SEMINAR CHANGE NOTICE - The October 26th Retirement Seminar located in Little Rock, has been moved to the Arkansas State Police HQ located at 1 State Police Plaza Drive.

9/23/11 - ACTIVE The Members Annual Statement will be coming out sometime within the next month. Members who were active on 6/30/11 will receive one. The statements have been redesigned to provide more information. Learn more here.
9/02/11 - EMPLOYERS When you are enrolling a new employee use the Membership Data Form, NOT the Contributory Election form. The Contributory Election form is only for current Non-contributory members who wish to become Contributory. New hires are automatically enrolled in the Contributory system, the election form is not needed.

7/28/11 - RETIRED - APERS recently updated the DROP Access Portal, adding a new level of security to that area of the web site. For most people this means recreating your access account. In order to help you through the process APERS has created a new DROP Access Guide with step by step directions. If you have any questions or need assistance contact APERS.

6/09/11 – RETIRED Eligible retirees of the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System (APERS) will receive their three percent (3%) cost of living adjustment (COLA) on July 1, 2011.

1/27/11 – RETIRED The 2010 1099 R forms will be mailed by January 31, 2011. If you have not received the 1099 R form by February 15, 2011, you may request a duplicate by completing the Request For a Duplicate 1099R found on the Forms Page under the Retiree heading. Request for duplicate 1099 R Forms must be in writing and will not be accepted by telephone.
1/17/11 - ACTIVE / NEAR RETIREMENT The cities for the 2011 Retirement Seminars have been determined and the online registration is back online. As specific locations in each city are determined, the page will be updated. For the latest information and to register go to the Seminars Page.
1/03/11 - ACTIVE / NEAR RETIREMENT The preliminary sites for the 2011 Retirement Seminars can be found on the Seminars Page. Once final locations are confirmed, online registration will be back up.
12/26/10 -Are you Vested in the System and considering a Termination Refund?
If you have terminated employment and you were a Contributory Member, you can elect to have your contributions refunded to you. If you have 5 or more years of service (vested) you should consider carefully before doing so. 8/30/10 - Active Annual Member Statements were mailed out at the end of August to all members who were reported by their employer as active between April 1, 2010 - June 30, 2010 (the last quarter of the fiscal year). Please allow 2 weeks for postal delivery. If you have not received your Annual Statement by Friday, September 10, 2010 you may request a duplicate copy to be mailed to you by using the form found here. Simply return the completed form via mail or fax to Attn: APERS Member Records.
8/30/10 -RETIREES Annual DROP Statements have gone out for those members in the DROP.. If you have not received your Annual DROP Statement by September 10, 2010 you may request a duplicate copy to be mailed to you by using the form found here. Simply return the completed form via mail or fax to Attn: APERS Accounting.
6/14/10 - RETIREES Retirees who retired on or before July 1 2009. and Members who entered the DROP on or before July 1 2009, will receive a 3% Cost of Living adjustment (COLA) effective July 1, 2010.

5/25/2010 The 2009 Contributory Handbook and the 2009 Non-Contributory Handbook are now online. Previous versions of both Contributory and Non-Contributory handbooks can be found on the APERS Publications Page.
