Although everyone is classified as a "public employee," APERS' membership is pretty diverse. When you're in the middle of it, sometimes it can be hard to see the edges. So we thought we would pull back to a broader perspective and give everyone a more comprehensive view of the System they make up.
Here are some pie charts to show you how many active and retired members we have, how many are in the new contributory plan versus the older plans, how many employers they work for, and what's likely to happen to them in the future, whether they are likely to remain in public employment until retirement or move on to something else. This data comes from our member databases and from projections made in the actuarial report for our fiscal year 2015 prepared by Gabriel Roeder Smith & Company.
