Overview

In the summer 2018 edition of our APERSpective Newsletter for Active Members, we published an article "Retirement Challenges for Women" that details some of the unique problems women face in retirement. To help our female members meet these challenges, APERS is offering a special retirement seminar just for women that will cover topics related to retiring from APERS as well as more general issues concerning your financial, emotional, and physical health and success.  The program is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, which are described below, and you may attend one or both sessions.

Morning Session: Retirement Planning (9:00 am - 11:00 am)

In the morning  APERS will do a presentation entitled "The Road to Retirement" which will help you understand what benefits and options are available as you approach retirement.
Also in the morning,  a representative from Guidance Resources will present a workshop entitled "Are you Financially on Track for Retirement?"

Afternoon Session: Personal Health Wellness, and Beyond (1:00 pm - 3:00 pm)

The afternoon session will feature two presentations. Licensed therapist, Glenda Eversole, LCSW, founder of Growing Hope Counseling therapy practice in Cabot, will offer information on maintaining happiness and wellness in retirement.
Also in the afternoon session, Attorney Elizabeth Caldwell, who has practiced in the area of corporate law and real estate transactions and financing, will discuss estate planning.

Additional Resources

Representatives of the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), whose mission is to help Arkansans save money and make informed decisions about Medicare, will staff a booth where they will answer questions and provide information about Medicare, MEDIGAP policies, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D (drug plans) and long-term care insurance.
