- In January 2024, APERS will send out IRS Form 1099-R to members receiving payments. Retired members will also receive a form for adjusting their withholding if needed.
- IRS Form 1099-R: This form will be sent to all members who received taxable payments from the system in 2023, detailing the taxable income received during the year. Members can expect to receive it by early February. If not received by February 15 or if a duplicate is needed, a request can be made after February 15. The form will also be available online through the member self-service (MSS) portal starting February 1.
- IRS Form W-4P: Monthly annuity payments to retirees are subject to federal income tax. APERS retirees will receive the redesigned Form W-4P for adjusting tax withholdings. Current tax elections will remain unchanged unless adjustments are needed due to future tax situation changes. The form can be downloaded from the website or used online through the MSS portal if necessary.
